If you're trying to cancel your ChatGPT or OpenAI subscription and can't find the option, you're not alone. The interface can be a bit confusing, and many tutorials online reference menus that don't always appear the same for everyone. Here’s the actual step-by-step process depending on how you subscribed.

1. If You Subscribed from the ChatGPT Website
Follow these steps:
- Open ChatGPT in your browser.
- Click your profile icon in the bottom-left corner.
- Click Settings.
- Go to My Plan.
- Click Manage my subscription.
- This will open the billing portal.
- Click Cancel plan and confirm.
Once cancelled, your subscription will remain active until the end of your current billing cycle, and then it will automatically revert to the free plan.
Important things to know:
- Your chat history will NOT be deleted.
- You keep Plus / Team features until the billing period ends.
- You will not be charged again after cancellation.

2. If You Subscribed via iPhone (Apple App Store)
If you upgraded through the iOS app, you must cancel through Apple.
Steps:
- Open Settings on your iPhone.
- Tap your Apple ID name at the top.
- Tap Subscriptions.
